Chevron + Chambray + Leopard print Oh My!

I love taking risks when it comes to mixing print. Don’t be afraid to mix and match your patterns. If you’re challenged by mixing patterns, or if you’re looking for some new ideas, these tips will give you some inspiration on how to get started.

1. Keep your eye on the size!

When mixing up your prints, be sure to pick a pattern you want to focus on and begin there. For example, let’s say you’re going with a statement polka dress. This pattern should be the biggest, and all others (i.e. on your jacket or sash) should be smaller in size.

2. Stick to the “print” story.

Staying in a singular palette will keep your outfit from looking thrown together. If your main piece is warm and bright, reach for complementary patterns that are in the same color story. You want story to flow and make sense.

3. When in doubt, stay neutral… right?

Neutrals are anything but boring, but they are safe. If you’re rocking a mixed print as your main piece, neutral patterns (like black, white, tan, cream, gray) are an easy addition and will bring your look down to earth.
