Mmm Mmm Good: Food For The Soul

Food For The Soul

Drink - Pink Lucy Mac and CheeseApple pie

On Monday January 8, 2018 my sis Briana and I had a three hour + layover so we decided to stop by Atlanta-based

rapper Chris “Ludacris” Bridges Chicken + Beer restaurant, named after his 2003 album,

in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport – Concourse D, Gate 5.

As soon as we walked in, we received a warm friendly welcome. The vibe is nice and chill,

with smooth groove music playing. I loved that the tables had charging stations

so it made sense that this place was the spot to be for the layover.

Our waiter Donald, was AMAZING! He did an awesome job of describing the food and drinks

which made it easy to decide on my meal. I ended up getting the 2 PC Southern Fried Chicken (dark)

and Molasses Biscuit. The sides I chose were the collard greens and cheddar cheese grits ($14.99).

I learned that their chicken is marinated over 24 hours in molasses and sugar which gives it that darker

look making it extra juicy. I was served one leg and a boneless thigh, both fried and seasoned to perfection.

If you like dark meat you will not be disappointed!

In the midst of the meal, Briana and I received a lemonade cocktail from our waiter Donald.

He wanted to thank us for our patience as he tended to the other tables as the restaurant started to fill up.

Honestly speaking, I never knew that he was absent, the food and service was  so good it never crossed my mind.

In passing conversation with our waiter,  I mentioned that they should have mac and cheese on the menu. Well what

do you know to my surprise, I was in luck, they were in the process of switching over to new menus (that day) that

had mac and cheese and a few other items added. Donald then proceeded to bring out two sides

of mac and cheese so my friend and I could taste it!

OMG let me tell you that mac and cheese was AMAZING grace how sweet the sound! It was mouth watering, with a

creamy cheese base, with sprinkles of short rib complemented with a small crispy onion ring garnish.

To top off the meal, we had an apple pie for dessert accompanied with two scoops of vanilla ice cream drizzled with

caramel sauce! It was MMM MMM good!!!

All in all I am very pleased with my visit to Chicken + Beer. If you just happen to be flying into Atlanta and feel the urge

for some good southern cooking, eat at Chicken + Beer. Just think, you don’t even have to leave the airport to enjoy

some southern cooking! You can’t beat that.
