Workcation or Vacation?
Every time I travel I get asked, Is this for “business, or pleasure?”
Often my answer is “well… a little bit of both.”
A puzzled look frequently follows.
I recently took a business trip and sailed on the Carnival Breeze for seven days. Our port stops were, Montego Bay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman Islands, and Cozumel, Mexico.
My favorite port was Cozumel, Mexico. While I was there, I got a chance to take a part of the Clear Lounge Underwater Oxygen Bar. Now you say, what is an underwater oxygen bar? Its a 13,000-gal tank of water with scented oxygen that is pumped into the diving helmets provided to you. If that sounds boring, then there’s underwater Jenga to keep you occupied too!
The company behind Clear Lounge is Sub Sea Systems, which is responsible for the helmets used while you are underwater.
Prior to being submerged, all visitors must watch a five-minute briefing video and safety review. You are then provided an aromatherapy scent that you wish to have mixed with their oxygen (I chose lavender) before entering the tank via a vertical ladder.
As participants lower themselves into the water, a staff member places one of the special helmets over your head.
The helmets can be used by non-swimmers; the helmets encapsulate your head while the oxygen is pumped in. The sensation of breathing the oxygen is so invigorating!
Once you are fully into the tank, you can stand on the floor and walk about. It’s possible to interact with your family and friends outside the tank through the glass, play underwater Jenga, and shoot bubble guns at targets. There’s also an underwater photo booth, which Sub Sea Systems claims is another world first. The whole experience lasts for 20 minutes. I had an amazing time and I think it even helped with my migraine!
This was the best workcation ever!
