KIMONO-STYLE
What is a Kimono?
Sooo… What exactly is a kimono you ask? Is it a jacket, robe, cape, scarf? According to the Oxford dictionary, a Kimono is defined as, “a long, loose traditional Japanese robe with wide sleeves, tied with a sash.” To sum the Kimono up, it’s basically a long piece of fabric worn as a robe or sheer layer.
They now come in short, long, over-sized and midi-lengths in every hue and fabric imaginable—and being worn in place of cardigans or jackets. To me it’s fashion, so I say it’s whatever you make it!
How do you style a Kimono?
Kimonos are great transition staples to throw on for spring and summer seasons. You can wear them over shorts, skirts, distressed jeans, or even a swimsuit. Shein has a great collection here and I’m also loving this Asos Animal Rose Print Tie Front Beach kimono paired with this swimsuit here. Take a look below on how I styled my outfit.
